Program Progression Criteria

Students advance to the next level based on the following criteria:

• Achievement of 80% score on tailored language assessments.
• Successful completion of coursework, including assignments, class participation, and assessments.
• Satisfactory attendance, maintaining the minimum required attendance percentage of 70%.
• Instructor recommendations based on performance, participation, and language progress.
• Weekly performance evaluations to track improvement and provide feedback.

Education & Program Progression Assistance Services

To support students in their language learning journey, LCI Language School provides the following assistance:

• Personalized Academic Advising – One-on-one consultations with teachers to guide students in course selection and goal setting.
• Progress Monitoring – Weekly assessments to track improvement and identify specific areas of improvement.
• Individual Learning Plans – Tailored study plans and additional resources to support student success.
• Supplementary Tutoring – Additional support sessions available for students requiring extra help in the development of specific language skills.
• Language Lab & Learning Resources – Access to learning materials, practice exercises, and teacher-led language-enhancing sessions to support skill development.
• Peer Support & Study Groups – Opportunities for peer tutoring and study group participation to encourage collaborative learning.

Student Responsibilities

Students seeking program progression must:

• Achieve a minimum of 80% in our assessments as well as maintain a minimum of 70% attendance.
• Actively participate in their language courses and complete all assignments.
• Regularly attend classes and academic support sessions.
• Seek help from instructors when needed.
• Utilize available learning resources and recommended support services.

Appeal Process

Students who wish to challenge their progression assessment or request additional support may submit a formal appeal to the our Head Teacher, Damian Rumph, via email damian.rumph@lcieducation.com no later than 5 business days after receiving their results. The appeal will be reviewed, and a response will be provided within 5 business days after it has been received.

Study Skills & Exam Preparation Workshops – Sessions focused on time management, study techniques, and test-taking strategies for internal and external exams.

Learning Resources & Language Labs – Access to digital learning tools, practice exercises, and language-enhancing software to support independent study.

Peer Support & Conversation Groups – Opportunities for students to practice speaking skills with peers in structured or informal conversation groups.

Individualized Learning Plans – Customized learning strategies and accommodations for students who need additional academic support.

Writing & Speaking Support – Specialized coaching for students looking to improve written communication and public speaking confidence.

Assistance for Students with Learning Challenges – Adapted learning strategies and resources for students with special learning needs or disabilities.

Transition Support for Program Progression – Guidance on moving to higher-level courses, external certification exams, or further academic studies.

Eligibility and Access

• Students seeking learning support must submit a request directly via email at esl@lcieducation.com.
• Requests should be accompanied by relevant documentation (e.g., medical reports, psychoeducational assessments, or faculty referrals).
• Services are available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to resource availability.

Responsibilities

• Students must actively engage with the support services, attend scheduled sessions, and communicate their needs effectively.
• Faculty and Staff are expected to accommodate students with approved learning support needs and collaborate to implement accommodations.

Confidentiality

All information related to a student’s learning support needs will be kept confidential and only shared with relevant personnel on a need-to-know basis, in accordance with institutional policies and data protection laws.

At this time, LCI Language School does not offer financial assistance, scholarships, or tuition payment subsidies. All students are responsible for covering their program fees in full as per the established payment terms. We encourage students to explore external funding options, such as sponsorships, private scholarships, or government programs available in their home countries. Should financial assistance become available in the future, we will communicate any updates accordingly.

Harassment Policy

Addiction and Overdose Support 

LCI Language School is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. We recognize the challenges posed by addiction and the risks of overdose and are committed to providing resources, training, and immediate assistance to address these issues.

Education and Training: All front desk and most student-facing staff are trained to recognize signs of overdose and administer Naloxone, a life-saving medication for opioid overdoses.

Students and staff are encouraged to attend workshops and sessions on addiction awareness, overdose prevention, and harm reduction strategies.

Naloxone Kits on Campus: Naloxone kits are placed in first aid room and front desk on campus. These kits are regularly checked to ensure they are up-to-date and ready for use.

Emergency Response Steps: In the event of a suspected overdose:

• Call 911 immediately for professional medical assistance.
• Call Campus Security at 604-683-2006 Ext:8900
• Notify trained staff or retrieve a Naloxone kit from a designated location.
• Administer Naloxone as instructed.
• Monitor the individual and provide supportive care until emergency services arrive.

All students studying at LCI Language School in Vancouver are responsible for having adequate medical insurance for the entire duration of their enrollment at our schools. We believe all students studying abroad at any of our international locations should have adequate health insurance to cover them in case of a medical emergency.

LCI Language School Vancouver can also help organize insurance for you. We work with reputable and experienced insurance companies that know how to support international students. They offer Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) plans that make sense for you and, if required, for family members accompanying you.
